United Negro College Fund Special Programs Corporation's Institute for International Public Policy Fellowship Program
The Institute for International Public Policy (IIPP) Fellowship Program is a program of the UNCF Special Programs Corporation that is now entering its 15th year. The Institute seeks to enhance U.S. national security and global competitiveness by promoting excellence, international service, and awareness among a representative cross-section of the American citizenry. The IIPP also seeks to broaden access to international education and training opportunities for underrepresented minority college students.
The IIPP Fellowship Program provides students from underrepresented minority groups with education and training experiences critical to entry and advancement in international affairs careers. IIPP is a comprehensive program of summer policy institutes, study abroad, intensive language training, internships, graduate study, and student services that include mentoring and career development. Additionally, IIPP provides students with the education and training necessary to successfully enter, advance, and provide leadership in international affairs careers.

The ISA Diversity Scholarship
The ISA Diversity Scholarship is open to those students who wish to bring a broader cultural perspective to their overseas group, as well as those who are dedicated to encouraging other multicultural students on their home campus to participate in international education programs. Scholarships are available for participants in ISA semester and summer programs.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program
This scholarship provides awards for US undergraduate students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2-year or 4-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. Award amounts will vary depending on the length of study and student need with the average award being $4,000 (maximum award: $5,000). The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

Japanese Student Services Organization (JASSO)
JASSO offers a number of scholarships for study in Japan. For example, the Short-term Student Exchage Program Scholarship is available for qualified international students accepted by Japanese universities or graduate schools under the student exchange agreement on a short-term basis from about three months to one year. This scholarship awards a monthly stipend: ¥80,000 per month (up to 12 months) and a relocation allowance: ¥150,000(upon arrival only).

National Security Education Program
Awards scholarships to American students for study of world regions critical to U.S. interests (including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, Caribbean and the Middle East). NSEP, provides American undergraduates with the resources and encouragement they need to acquire skills and experiences in areas of the world critical to the future of U.S. interests in exchange for a commitment to seek work in the federal government. http://www.borenawards.org/
National Security Language Initiative (NSLI)
This is a U.S. government interagency effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical need foreign languages, the Department of State Critical Language Scholarships will provide funding for U.S. citizen undergraduate, master’s and Ph.D. students to partiIPate in beginning, intermediate and advanced level summer language programs at American Overseas Research Centers. Language School’s 2009 HBCU Scholarships offer intensive summer language study programs in various languages. Boren Scholarships
Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.
